Alex should be getting discharged in a week. His progress has been great, his attitude is good, his mental state is good. He let me know last night while we were getting some hay for his animals.

It’s bittersweet! Today on the drive in it made me a little sad. I’ve enjoyed this time together each morning driving in. It’s about an hour or more out of my way in the opposite direction from work! 🤣But, as parents we generally just rush out of the house, drop the kids off, then head into work. Not often do you get an hour of uninterrupted alone time with your kid after they got a good nights sleep.

I’m proud of Alex and the progress he’s made. What a fucking journey it’s been from one of the scariest nights of my life to seeing him smile and be happy. He’s put in a lot of work! A lot of processing, a lot of effort, and change.

Most people have to want to change to get better no matter how hard WE want them to change. I pray and hope this will be the beginning of a new life for us and we can keep moving forward together one day at a time!

I’m glad you are here with me
