Once Upon a time in Cabo...

So, sometimes people give us advice and we take it. Other times we take it - ishhhh.
All I heard was, don’t go anywhere alone and be safe, don’t leave the resort, blah blah. Haha. So, yesterday I got up and headed to the Airport at 4am. My flight was delayed but it went well, and the process took awhile but I got to my hotel by 11am. I went through check in but they told me to come back around 3pm to get a room. That’s when I decided, I’ll just walk to town and do some exploring.
For the record! I did not disregard the advice of everyone this was by total chance that the following series of true events occurred.
I walk to the local La Comer or “Kroger” which was great because I got some Starbucks, knocked out some souvenirs and just chilled till about 2:30pm. Now on the way I stopped at one of those shops and bought a snorkeling adventure. The guy told me to take a bus to Cabo San Lucas (my hotel is in another town called Los Cabos).
After La Comer I decide to try out the bus route to get ready, and take it back to the hotel. Now, what transpired from there was not my fault. So, I get on the old 1989’s rundown school but for 13 pesos. While riding I was chatting with another American and then he got off. I should have gotten off there but didn’t know the area. The bus takes a left and heads into what would be a 3 hour journey into the real part of Baja.
About 2.5 hours into the is, what’s should have been 5 minute, bus ride the driver drops me off in a 1 horse town and told me to jump on the #3 bus back to downtown. Now, I was at a dead end dirt road with 1 bus stop and a Mexican 7-11. On the way there I got quite a few chuckles and ugly looks. I heard Gringo a couple times and I’m pretty sure a “who the hell is this Americano.”

I was like not even close to anywhere I should have been. But it was all good because I have my most American attire on. I ain’t gonna lie, I thought I was dead. I waited about 30 minutes till, thank God, the number 3 bus showed up.
This where he story gets funny. I get on the #3 and who was my driver? The same damn guy... 🤦🏻♂️. Apparently he was talking about a different 3 bus I don’t know.
This was a tumbleweed blowing, hot as hell, dirt road barren waste land. I has a Grunt style Army and US flag shirt on ok!
It took about an hour to get to my hotel. And I tell you, I’ve never been more happy to see a place. I’m hot, I’m sweaty, like all over sweaty. I finally checked into my hotel and took the longest shower I’ve ever taken.
But, on a more serious note, I’m not sure how to take the whole experience. Most of the people who live here in this Resort area are still in run down shacks. Like actual shacks. It was depressing, scary, and eye opening. Here I am on the beach sipping a pina Colada, and the person next to me lives in a 100 sq ft of sheet metal and ply wood, no AC or WiFi, or running water. Crazy how in 2019 the world is still like this.
