As adults we may tend to blow off our kids and think that we cannot learn from them.
Over the last few years with my kids I have learned a few things. Number one being that yes we can be both teacher and student. My kids have taught me many things within our growth together like the following:
1. It’s ok to be yourself. My kids are surprisingly strong at being themselves and not giving a fuck what people think about them. I don’t either, but they have taught me that it’s ok to be yourself and that people should love you for who you are.
2. Holding strong to your beliefs and values are vital to being happy.
3. That it’s ok to think outside the box and that we should accept everyone for who they are.
4. Forgiveness and grace. I’m not the best parent in the world, but they love me anyways.
5. Sometimes you just need to relax.
6. Shit happens and it’s just not that big of a deal.
7. Love comes in all shapes, sizes, and forms.
8. That I am deeply loved. (Sometimes)
9. People fuck up, and will continue to fuck up.
10. Lastly, to stand up for what you believe in. To face adversity and be strong. My kids are sooooo strong!
Life is about love, life is about family, and life is a constant journey with no final destination until death. We will constantly be navigating this thing called life. Everyday we will learn something new, and hopefully Those things are about myself.
